Today we drive one of Australia’s fabled outback roads. Originally the stock route between Derby on the coast and the interior cattle stations, it is rough with few amenities and no fuel for 300 km. Scattered every few kilometres along the road is a shredded tire. They serve as
warnings to those who take this route lightly. Our high clearance Toyota Land Cruiser has a full spare tire and a snorkel for air intake when driving through rivers. My concern – how will Geoff’s arms and shoulders hold out after several days of “shake, rattle and roll?” At the end of day
one, he says he’s fine.
