Only three more sleeps and Geoff and I will return to what he refers to as his real home. Back in 1973 we first arrived in Sydney on an adventure as newlyweds to work in Australia and explore the country. Not more than a week into our planned two year stay, Geoff said, “I could live here forever. This feels like home.” Though we did return to Canada in 1975, we returned to Geoff’s other home as a family in 1989, 2015 (Sept. – Dec.) and will be back for a further three months this fall.
We fly first to Paris for four days, then to Perth where we pick up a 4WD Toyota Landcruiser with a tent on the roof, and head north up the inland Great Northern Road to Port Hedland, Broome and Cape Leveque, then back south along the coast to Perth. We’ll fly to Adelaide pick up a campervan and drive to Melbourne, go by ferry to Tasmania then fly to Sydney, Vancouver and home, December 1st. Whew!
You can follow our adventure through postings on this blog and also on Geoff’s satellite communicator. He posts daily locator points and short descriptions at https://share.garmin.com/GeoffBarley.
