Today was the Brunswick Agricultural Fair with prizes for scones, smoked sausage and the usual pickles and jams, carnival rides, food of every kind including candy floss which appears to be a universal kid’s treat, farm machinery on display, pony rides, commercial stands includes the world’s best slicer, dicer and peeler which I managed to walk by, Irish dancers, an evening concert and fireworks closing out the day. My favorite the horse jumping competition. It is billed as the largest one day fair in Australia so we were in the grounds when it opened and left just before noon when crowds were thronging the booths.
Travelling means that it is just the two of us most of the time. Though the scenery, food and events we visit are spectacular I find that I miss connection with people. I loved the noise of the fair, the people-watching and the memories it brought back of Ontario fall fairs.
